Main Lodge - Ideally located on the Peninsula of Hippo Bend Lagoon.
All new guest arrivals are received at the main lodge. After a quick refreshment, guests have the option of walking to the peninsula point of Hippo Bend Lagoon where they are treated to the sights and sounds of over 100 permanent, resident hippos. The main lodge features a reception desk, lounge area, bar area, dining area, bathrooms, and a large veranda with outdoor barbecue. All main lodge facilities are elevated one meter off the ground and overlook the Mara River on the Eastern and Western sides of the lodge. There is a separate lounge and dining area on the opposite end of the camp, past riverfront suite #8. Safari hotels with a capacity of eight total riverfront suites do not normally have multiple lounge and dining areas, but at the Royal Mara guests are treated to the best of both worlds.

Relax in the lounge and listen to the sound of grunting hippos in the Mara River. The surrounding walls of the main lodge are made of high quality canvas, rolled up during the day so as to welcome the ambient sounds of the Masai Mara environment and its gentle breeze. The canvas walls are lowered in the event of inclement weather. Also featured in the main lodge are a multitude of intricately hand-carved animal statues -- from leopards to vultures to standing giraffe. Many of the carvings are life sized. There are even a pair of carved Maasai warriors standing on guard.
