Resident Wildlife - Lodging Amid Nature's Creatures
Game viewing at the Royal Mara begins in the camp itself where an array of wildlife make the camp their permanent home. Over a hundred hippos led by ''Bob," our river king, occupy the numerous pools along our river frontage. A troop of vervet monkeys headed by "Joey" with his distinctly blue gonads find sanctuary from predators in the camp trees. At breakfast time you will be entertained by "Elvis" and his troop of baboons that visit our dining area daily. Take a walk along our marsh footpath behind the river guest suites and enjoy prolific resident bird watching. During the day witness dik-dik, warthog, impala or gazelle grazing in the camp or on its periphery. Approach our waterhole and lagoon area and you will see an endless parade of watering wildlife.
